Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is an actor from Denmark. Danish actor. He has played Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) and the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was given the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. At the age of 27 when he began his studies, he was accepted into the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from the school in 1995. He also appeared in The Killing's drama series. [1] He then was on the show in Borgen III and Those Who Kill, which were both critically acclaimed Danish drama series. He also had a leading role in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen.In the American TV show House of Cards, he played the role of President Russia. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in Danish drama Herrens Veje,which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm
